I know you’ve heard a lot about all the amazing Authors you’ll get to meet this year at Ozarks Indie Book Fest, and loads of fun things to do in the area when you aren’t having a blast at the Fest. Today I wanted to shine a light on the 2 very wonderful charities that OIBF donates all their proceeds to! That’s right, not only will your trip to OIBF get you some fabulous new reads, laughs, and lots of fun. It will also leave you with all the warm and fuzzy feels, knowing that you are helping contribute to two different heartwarming charities. Now let me tell you a little more about each of these great causes…

Companions for Heroes

Companions for Heroes (C4H) provides companion animals obtained from shelters and/or rescues, who might otherwise bdndnde euthanized, free of charge to active duty military personnel, military veterans, and first-responders recovering from the psychological challenges they suffered during service to our country. C4H increases public awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other challenges confronting our country’s heroes; and rally’s support for animal welfare and the adoption of shelter and/or rescue animals.

C4H is a non-clinical and non-facility based organization that places special emphasis on creating mutually beneficial opportunities for shelter and rescue animals, some who might otherwise be euthanized, and our nation’s service men and women by accessing the expertise of medical care professionals and animal welfare organizations. C4H is an Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) program that recognizes the incredible power of the human-animal relationship and seeks to support those suffering from psychological stress as they pursue recovery with the unconditional love of a pet.

C4H (Companions For Heroes) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Loving Paws Rescue

Mission: Loving Paws Rescue is a non-profit {501(c)3} public charity. We operate soley on donations of goods and funds from individuals and businesses. We receive no city, county or state funding. We do, however, work hand in hand with city and county officials when responding to complaints of abuse, neglect or abandonment of pets. It is important that we work together to meet the needs of those animals that have no one else to look out for them.
We work to maintain a no-kill animal rescue. Some animals may come to us with health problems. We attend to those needs first. Others may come to us with emotional needs due to being mistreated or abandoned. We work to show the animal that it can again trust humans and human contact. There are occasionally extreme circumstances where we have to humanely euthanize an animal due to very severe injury or illness where recovery is not possible. We may also have to deal with a vicious animal that can not be socialized to a degree to be adoptable. These incidents are very rare but do happen.
We do not have a central location where you can come to see the dogs and cats in our possession. We are a network of foster homes. At this time, we are in great need of new foster homes. All it takes to be a foster home is some yard space, some fencing and/or leash walking time, and a little time each day for feeding and socializing to help one or more of these residents make the adjustments necessary to find their forever home.
